Shanon Lee is a writer and media pro who has been featured on National Geographic, HuffPost Live, The Wall Street Journal, TV One and the REELZ Channel’s Scandal Made Me Famous.
Her opinion essays on misogyny and racism are widely circulated and have been shared by notables including bestselling author-turned-TERF author J.K. Rowling, rap legend MC Lyte and political activist Kevin Powell.
She has spent more than a decade working to advance the dialogue around sexual violence and misogynoir, collaborating with brands including Forbes, Refinery29, Facebook, Hearst, Dotdash Meredith & the Washington Post.
In addition to contributing to The Lily at The Washington Post, her writing appears in publications including Cosmopolitan, Playboy, Good Housekeeping, ELLE, Parents, Marie Claire, Woman’s Day, Prevention, Women’s Health and Redbook.
SHanon is a women’s media center-trained Shesource expert. she Has Served On The Speakers Bureau for the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (rAInn) and worked as a Mentor, Coach And fEllowship Leader for The Oped project and the school of the new york times.
HER behind-the-camera work includes the 2016 short film Marital Rape is Real, made in partnership with George Mason University and screened at fundraisers for nonprofits including the Domestic Violence Resource Project (DVRP) and Fear2Freedom.
In 2023, she served as the associate producer for the first two seasons of theGrio’s A Taste of Chocolate, which spotlights Black food entrepreneurs, further highlighting her commitment to producing media that promotes cultural diversity.
